Anzac Day a big day for NMVC

Post date: Mar 25, 2014 2:45:41 AM

Anzac Day, Friday 25th April will be a big day for the choir. , At 11.00am we will be singing at the RSA Service at Memorial Hall, Stoke, sharing the stage with the Bishop, the Mayor, the Armed Forces, Nelson Brass Band, and guest speakers. It's a moving ceremony, and we love playing our part.

At 2.00pm the choir gives its concert at Old St John's in Hardy Street, for the first time. Anzac Day has increasingly become New Zealand's own national day, and people want to commemorate it, so the concert is usually performed in front of a full house. The choir is keen to show its audiences what progress it has made over the past year or so, and keen to enjoy the wonderful acoustic that the old church provides. Besides the usual patriotic songs, accompanied by cornetist David Todd, the choir will perform 7 songs from its newly recorded CD, and will welcome back as a guest, top Nelson flautist Sarah Stack. The choir will again be conducted by Andrea Hamilton and accompanied by pianists Pauline Boyd and Susan Stoke.
